How the Motorola LCD Display Compares to the Droid X

The quality and performance of any smartphone display – whether an LCD or OLED – is crucial to the overall visual experience. We’ve been evaluating and comparing smartphone LCD and OLED displays in scientific lab measurements together with extensive side-by-side visual tests to objectively evaluate their overall display performance.

Colors, brightness and contrast change with viewing angle on many LCD displays. We’ve measured the Peak Brightness, Black Luminance and Contrast Ratio to determine how much they shift at different viewing angles.

Colors

The Motorola lcd has some of the most impressive tech on display. It’s a pity it didn’t have a little more to spare. Its most notable kin is the Droid X, which is a whole different ball game. Best of all, you can take it with you wherever you go. Unlike some other mobile powerhouses of the past, it is actually fun to use. You’ll have the itch to go home for lunch, or better yet, you can play with it while you eat that.

Brightness

The Motorola lcd on the Moto G72 is among the brightest displays we’ve seen in its price class, reaching 980 cd/m2 and matching or bettering the brightness of most devices in this category. The screen is also HDR capable, which means it’s capable of displaying brighter and more colorful images than typical smartphones with the same resolution.

This is a great feature, as it saves you the hassle of fiddling with your device’s illumination whenever you’re outside on a sunny day or unlocking your phone in the dark. However, sometimes Adaptive Brightness can start to act up, making your screen too bright in a dark room or too dim outside.

If this happens, you can fix the issue by recalibrating Adaptive Brightness. To do this, open the Settings app and scroll down to the Apps section. Tap on Device Health Services, and select Reset adaptive brightness.

After that, it’s up to the Android system to learn what your lighting habits are and make adjustments accordingly. It might take a few days, but it should eventually work as intended.

You can change the display brightness, time Motorola lcd out and orientation in the Quick Settings menu by swiping down from the Notification bar with two fingers and selecting the desired option. You can also set a shortcut for each of these options so you can quickly toggle them with triple-clicks on the home button.

Contrast

Contrast is a critical quality for a display, because it Motorola lcd allows you to see all of the details of an image without any difficulty. The best displays have very high contrast ratios, which means they can reproduce a wide range of colors in different light conditions.

It also has a dynamic contrast mode, which is a type of processing that can boost the display’s contrast to its fullest possible level while reducing power consumption by dimming the backlight and only boosting the display’s brightness when the ambient lighting is low enough to produce a brighter screen. This is a very useful feature, as it can help reduce eye strain and improve battery life while still producing excellent display quality.

Dynamic contrast is triggered by changes in the Average Picture Level, which can vary depending on the brightness of a single full-screen Red, Green and Blue image. It also includes Dynamic Color and Contrast processing, which tries to match the full-screen Luminance of each Red, Green and Blue image with White in order to maintain accurate colors.

This is a fairly complex and complicated process that involves many aspects of the display including the type of backlight, pixel pitch, white point and gamma correction. It is very important that a display produces an accurate color and intensity scale and is calibrated to closely match industry standards.

Another important aspect of the contrast is a display’s brightness variation with viewing angle. Generally speaking, higher-quality displays do much better than lower-quality ones when you’re looking at them from a long distance.

When you’re looking at the display from a moderate viewing angle the Droid has a fairly low Peak Brightness of 160 cd/m2 and an exceptionally high Black Level Brightness of 0.165 cd/m2. These are very low values for a mobile display in typical ambient lighting and indicate that a lot of power is being consumed by the display to produce an acceptable image.

Viewing Angles

The best viewing angles are often the most difficult to achieve in the real world, but if you’re fortunate enough to have the right tools and equipment at hand, it’s a delight to watch your favorite show in all its glory. Depending on the display technology being used, some models boast an impressively wide angle of view – the kind of view your eyes won’t even notice when you’re holding the phone up to your face. The most notable aspect of this display technology is that it’s often able to automatically adjust its brightness and power settings as the environment changes – this is not to mention the fact that it can also be used on its own for long periods of time without a single glance from the user. Using a high-end, well suited display can boost your battery life by a couple of notches, so you don’t have to worry about squeezing that extra movie into the nightstand drawer.
