The Rage Gauge also gives you a temporary power up to your machine gun fire when you press the action button.
The Spectrum version of Rambo is a lot more fun to play than the C64 and Amstrad versions, due to a larger free movement area on the action screen, more constant and logical scrolling and better graphics in general. However, the Spectrum loading tune is considerably uglier than the two competitors and the Amstrad version also has some drastic rhythmic problems.
Razing Storm DX Arcade Machine
Like Time Crisis and Crisis Zone, Razing Storm uses an action pedal to attack, hide and reload. It also features an advanced enemy Artificial Intelligence system that reacts to your style of play. You can destroy buildings, furniture and windows; and a variety of weapons like the Cluster Shot Gun and Rocket Launcher also come into play.
The game’s campaign mode is a mercifully short affair, taking about an hour to complete. Players are assigned to Alpha One and Alpha Two of the special forces unit SCAR, who are sent to capture Paulo Guerra in South America circa 2030.
As you would expect, the first-person shooter part of Shooting Game Machine the game isn’t exactly stellar. The camera movements are sluggish, and you’re forced to use the Move controller as an aimer in addition to the navigation controller (or DualShock). Cover is also poorly implemented; you can take cover only in specific spots, and it’s impossible to pop out of them without tilting the control upwards–which can be an unwieldy experience on its own.
Overall, it’s hard to recommend this PlayStation 3 port. The inclusion of Deadstorm Pirates, a campy pirate light-gun shooter, is a big plus for fans of the series, as it offers the same level of fun and excitement that you’d get from a copy of Time Crisis 4. But if you’re only interested in the arcade versions, then this isn’t worth the price.
Sailor Zombie: AKB48 Arcade Edition
If you’re a fan of Japan’s massive Jpop girl group AKB48, then you’ll want to get your hands on their newest arcade shooter. It’s called Sailor Zombie: AKB48 Arcade Edition and it was developed by Bandai Namco Games.
It’s based on the Japanese TV series “Sailor Zombie,” which follows the adventures of a group of schoolgirls who are overrun by zombies. Players control one of seven members of the group, including Yuko Oshima, Mayu Watanabe and Yuki Kashiwagi, and use their Love Vaccine pistol to save the other girls from zombiedom.
As the player advances in the game, they must either shoot the other AKB48 members that have been transformed into zombies or inject an antidote to them, as well as fight Big Bad Bosses. In addition to this, the game has a music portion where the player can dance and play a rhythm game on four AKB48 songs.
The game also features 3-D zombie faces that were created using a scanner to get the facial structures of the actual AKB48 members. These zombies are super cute, and they look a lot like the real members of the group. They’re a great way to show off the band’s popularity in the gaming world, and they’re a fun addition to any gamer’s collection.
